TULSA, Okla. – Virginia junior Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) continued his strong play Friday at the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Devvarman defeated Greg Ouellette of Florida in three sets to reach the quarterfinals.

Devvarman, the tournament’s No. 4 seed, reached the quarterfinals at the event for the first time in his career with a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3 over Ouellette, ranked No. 26 nationally. He will meet Luke Shields of Boise State, ranked No. 33 nationally in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) was also in action Friday in the round of 16, but fell to Luis Flores of Georgia in three sets. Flores, ranked No. 13 nationally, rallied from dropping the first set to top Huey 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 6-3.

In doubles, Devvarman and Huey won in the round of 16 on Friday, topping No. 40 ranked Nick Brunner and Joshua Raff of Cornell 9-7. However, their run came to an end later in the day, with an 8-3 loss to No. 5 ranked Brian Hung and Matko Maravic of Michigan in the quarterfinals.

The tournament will run through Sunday on the campus of Tulsa.
