Cavaliers Golfers Off to Slow Start at Mason Rudolph

Franklin, TN – The Virginia men’s golf team got off to a slow start in defense of its title at Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot 312 to finish in 14th place after the first day in the blustery weather conditions as temperatures dipped into the low 50’s and winds were gusting around 15 miles per hour.
Conrad Von Borsig led Virginia with a 3-over 75 to stand in 27th place while Kyle Stough shot 77 and is 44th overall. Eamonn McLoughlin is in 58th place at 79, Greg Carlin is 67th at 81 and Preston Yates is 70th at 82.
In the team competition, Vanderbilt and Mississippi hold a three-stroke lead over UT-Chattanooga (293). Rice (294) and North Florida (298) round out the top five.
The 14-team field, competing on the par-72, 7190-yard Ironhorse Course, will play 18 holes on Monday, beginning at 8 a.m. CT from the first and 10th tees. The final round takes place Tuesday.
