Charlottesville, Va. – Men’s lacrosse coach Dom Starsia has announced his team’s schedule for the upcoming season. The Cavaliers have two preseason scrimmages–at Navy on Feb. 3 and home against Georgetown on Feb. 10–before opening the season against Drexel at home on Feb. 18.
Virginia hits the road for the first time with a game at Stony Brook on Feb. 24.
The Cavaliers travel to Baltimore for the inaugural Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on March 3. Inside Lacrosse magazine is sponsoring a doubleheader featuring the four schools that have won every NCAA Championship since 1991. Virginia plays Syracuse, while Johns Hopkins matches up against Princeton in an event where the NCAA Championship will be held in late May.
The Cavaliers open a four-game homestand against VMI on March 5 and then host Princeton on March 10, Mount St. Mary’s on March 13 and Towson on March 17.
Virginia returns to Baltimore on March 24 to battle Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field.
The ACC schedule begins on March 31 with a home game against Maryland. The Cavaliers play Binghamton for the first time on April 3 at Klöckner Stadium and remain at home to face North Carolina on April 7.
Virginia concludes its ACC slate with its final road game of the season at Duke on April 14. The regular season ends with a home game against Dartmouth on April 21.
The annual ACC Tournament is April 27 and 29 and is being hosted by Duke.
“Travelling back to Long Island for an early game with Stony Brook, the Syracuse game as part of the Inside Lacrosse doubleheader at M&T Bank Stadium, weekend games to follow with Princeton, Towson, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth and ACC foes Maryland, North Carolina and Duke, the ACC Tournament in the state of North Carolina–could there be a more exciting regular season line-up?” said Starsia. “The season following a national championship presents some unique challenges and everyone associated with the program is excited to measure up for the effort. Virginia lacrosse players and fans are looking forward to the start of 2007!”
