Three Players Join Virginia Men's Basketball Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia men’s head basketball coach Dave Leitao announced on Friday (Nov. 10) that sophomores Damin Altizer and Bob McCormick, and freshman David Noel have joined the UVa team after going through a tryout process.
Altizer is a 5-11 guard from Millboro, Va. He lettered four times in basketball at Bath County High School and twice was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Player. He was an All-Pioneer District selection three times, earned All-Region honors twice and was an All-State selection as a high school senior.
McCormick is a 6-5 forward from Chicago, Ill. He was an All-Conference selection and team captain in basketball, baseball and soccer at Francis W. Parker High School. He earned third-team All-State honors as a high school senior and was the conference Player of the Year.
Noel is a 6-3 guard from Houston, Texas. He lettered once in basketball at Lamar High School and once at St. John’s High School where he was a team captain. He earned first-team All-Conference honors and was the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior at St. John’s. He also lettered one year in football at Lamar.
Virginia opens its 2006-07 season at the John Paul Jones Arena against Arizona on Sunday (Nov. 12).
