The men’s and women’s cross country teams both received at-large bids to the NCAA Championships to be held November 20 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Both teams finished fourth in their respective Southeast Regional races yesterday, and had to wait until tonight to learn if they would be racing at Nationals. The women will race at noon eastern time, followed by the men at 1:15 p.m.
This marks the second year in a row that both Cavalier squads will race at the National meet. Before last year, the feat had never been accomplished by both teams in the same year.
The Cavalier women return six of the seven scorers from last year’s National meet, including 2006 All-ACC and All-Region honorees Emily Harrison, Kara Scanlin and Katie Read. On the men’s side, four of the seven scorers from the National meet last year return. Fourth-years Jan Foerster, Andrew Dumm, and Alex Tatu, along with All-ACC second-year Andy Biladeau, will lead the Cavaliers.
