CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia men’s head basketball coach Dave Leitao has announced the signing of 6-4 guard Mustapha Farrakhan of Harvey, Ill., to a letter of intent with the Cavaliers during the recent signing period.
Farrakhan averaged 17.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game as a junior last season at Thornton Township High School. He earned all-conference and all-area honors, and was an honorable mention all-state selection.
“Mustapha will bring great skill to our backcourt,” Leitao said. “He will be a factor because he’s smart, tough and a fearless competitor. We look forward to him contributing from both guard spots. Along with his outstanding ability, he really loves Virginia and the ACC.”
Farrakhan is the third player to sign a letter of intent with Virginia. Earlier, Leitao announced the signings of 6-4 guard Jeff Jones of Wilmington, Del, and 6-1 guard Sam Zeglinski of Philadelphia, Pa.
