Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia men’s lacrosse coach Dom Starsia announces the addition of three more student-athletes to his recruiting class for the 2006-07 academic year.
This group includes Ryan Burns from Nashville, Tenn., Ken Clausen from Downingtown, Pa., and Tim Fuchs from Merrick, N.Y.
Burns is a 5-11, 185-pound attackman/midfielder who is spending a postgraduate year this season at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. In addition to playing lacrosse, he was the MVP of the football team at running back last fall. He graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville last year where he earned high school All-America honors in 2005. He was also named first-team all-state last year.
Clausen, a 6-2, 195-pound defenseman from The Hill School in Pennsylvania, is a two-sport standout and captain in both football and lacrosse. A four-year starter in lacrosse, he received all-area and all-league honors and was named area player of the year as a junior while receiving team defensive MVP accolades. Also a four-year varsity player in football, Clausen was named all-league this past fall as a wide receiver.
Fuchs is a good-sized attackman at 6-0, 205 pounds and attends Long Island’s Bishop Kellenberg Memorial High School. He was an All-Long Island linebacker last fall and was named his team’s MVP. He is one of the lacrosse team’s leading scorers this spring.
“We are very pleased to announce the addition of these outstanding young men to our program,” said Starsia. “With 11 seniors about to graduate, it was important to continue the recruiting process. Ryan, Ken and Tim are exceptional students and athletes; they strengthen our program in a number of areas. We all look forward to their contributions- fans of our program will enjoy getting to know them.”
These individuals join eight recruits announced in the fall.
