Virginia hosts Boston College on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
The Cavaliers then travel to top-ranked Maryland on Friday, Jan. 19 for a 7 p.m. game at the Comcast Center. The game will be televised by the Regional Sports Network (Fox Sports Net South, Comcast Sports Net, SunSports, and New England Sports Network).
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
The Eagles, under the guidance of 14th-year head coach Cathy Inglese, stand 10-6 overall and 0-2 in ACC play after a 58-40 loss to NC State on Jan. 11. Senior forward Kathrin Ress paces BC with 17.5 ppg and 8.9 rpg, while freshman guard Elisabeth Egnell adds 10.5 ppg.
SERIES VS. EAGLES
Virginia owns a 3-1 series advantage over Boston College since the teams first met in 1983. In their first action as ACC rivals last season, BC captured a 57-43 win in Chestnut Hill, Mass. However, the No. 9 seed Cavaliers rebounded with a 57-54 upset victory in the first round of the 2006 ACC Tournament.
LAST OUTING
Virginia won its first ACC game of the season with a 77-70 win over Wake Forest on Thursday night at John Paul Jones Arena.
Junior point guard Sharneé Zoll (Marlboro, N.J.) and sophomore Lyndra Littles (Washington, D.C.) led the Cavaliers with 17 points each. Zoll finished a perfect 12-of-12 from the line, tying the school record for perfect free throw percentage in a game, and pushed her consecutive streak to 21 makes. She also dished out a game-high nine assists, just one shy of a double-double performance. Senior Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) racked up her third double-double of the season (seventh of her career) with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) rounded out the UVa double-figure scoring with 15 points. Overall, Virginia out-rebounded Wake, 442-41.
IN THE STATISTICS
After 16 contests, sophomore Lyndra Littles leads the Cavaliers with 16.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Monica Wright follows with 14.1 ppg, while junior Sharneé Zoll adds 11.7 ppg and 88 assists. UVa out-scores its opponents by +7.1 points and out-rebounds its foes by +2.6 boards.
