CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior John Millen (Lilburn, Ga.) was named ACC men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week conference officials announced on Monday. Millen was honored for his role in the Cavaliers’ wins over Duke and North Carolina this past weekend, that kept Virginia undefeated (5-0) in the ACC this season.
Millen won the 200 freestyle, posting a 1:42.14 in the event, in the win over Duke on Friday night. On Saturday, Millen won two events as Virginia handed North Carolina its first ACC loss of the year. He won the 1000 freestyle with a season-best time of 9:07.01, and won the 500 freestyle, turning in a 4:28.55.
The honor is the third of the season for Millen, who was also honored on October 30 and December 4. He is the only men’s swimmer to win the award multiple times this season.
The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming teams return to action on Sunday when they visit Pittsburgh.
