CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 8 ranked Virginia men’s tennis team kicks off its 2007 dual match schedule Wednesday, as it visits William & Mary. Match time at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg is set for 4:30 p.m.
The Cavaliers are led by two players that are ranked in the top ten of the ITA singles rankings. Junior Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) is No. 8, while fellow junior Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) is No. 10. In doubles, the duo of Devvarman and Huey are ranked No. 7 nationally.
The Tribe is led by senior Colin O’Brien and junior Alex Cojanu. Together, they are ranked No. 30 nationally in doubles.
Virginia opens its home schedule this weekend with a pair of matches at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. On Friday, the Cavaliers host No. 13 ranked Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, No. 5 ranked Illinois visits Charlottesville, with match time set at noon.
