CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Virginia women’s swimming and diving team remains in third place after the third day of the 2007 ACC Championship Meet at the Koury Natatorium on the campus of North Carolina. The Cavaliers have scored 333.5 points over the first three days of the meet, trailing North Carolina (497 points) and Florida State (445).

The highlight of the day for the Cavaliers was a pair of swimmers who became ACC Champions. Senior Erin Corgan (Marietta, Ga.) was the winner of the 400 individual medley. Her `B-cut’ time of 4:17.31 was a career best. Junior Jess Lewis (Allentown, Pa.) was victorious in the 200 free, as she swam a career best 1:48.06. That time is also an NCAA `B-cut’ time. For both, it was the first ACC Championship of their career.

In the 100 butterfly, Megan Evo (Beverly Hills, Mich.) finished sixth with a time of 55.55. Stephanie Glover (Raleigh, N.C.) won the consolation final of the event, with a `B-cut’ time of 55.29.

First-year Mei Christensen (Reston, Va.) placed third in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 55.49.

In the final event of the night, the Cavaliers finished second in the 400 medley relay. The team of Christensen, Katherine McDonnell (Culpeper, Va.), Glover, and Lewis swam a `B-cut’ time of 3:42.30.

The meet concludes Saturday with the 1650 free, the 200 backstroke, the 100 free, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly, and the 400 free relay. Preliminaries will be held at 11 a.m. and the finals at 7 p.m. The finals will be broadcast on the web at www.accselect.com.
