UVa-Albany NCAA Game Set for 12:15 p.m. Tip-Off

Charlottesville, VA — Virginia and Albany will tip-off at 12:15 p.m. Friday, March 16 in the opening round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships. The game between the Cavaliers and Great Danes will be the first of four played in Columbus, Ohio at the Nationwide Arena. Exactly 30 minutes after the conclusion of UV’s game, Tennessee and Long Beach State will play the second game of the day.

Virginia Tech and Illinois will meet in the third game at 7:10 p.m. and Holy Cross and Southern Illinois are slated for the day’s final game, exactly 30 minutes following the end of the matchup between the Hokies and Illini.

The Virginia Sports Network will start its coverage at 11:30 a.m. Friday with Mac McDonald and Jim Hobgood calling the action courtside from Columbus. Throughout the tournament, Virginia’s games will be carried by the Virginia Sports Network originating at the Charlottesville Radio Group and WINA-AM (1070) / WWWV-FM (97.5) in Charlottesville.

All tournament games will be televised live by CBS Sports and aired locally on WCAV-TV.

Virginia enters its NCAA first-round game as a No. 4 seed in the 65-team field. Albany is a No. 13 seed. This is the first meeting between the two teams. The Cavaliers are making their first NCAA appearance since the 2001 tournament.
