Virginia line defender Jen Holden was named to the National All-Rookie team in May of her first season, and then in August was named to the US National Developmental team. She has started every game in her collegiate career. Holden, a native of Virginia from Alexandria, and the rest of the Cavaliers will face George Mason on Tuesday, April 14. Holden ranks second on the team in ground balls and minutes played. She sat down with virginiasports.com to answer some questions about herself for the fans.

Crosse checks first appeared in the United States Women’s Lacrosse Association’s newsletter in the early 1980’s and was the main source for information in the USA about women’s lacrosse. This column is named as such as a tribute to those women who paved the way for our sport.

My primary inspiration in sports is: My coaches and family

Best lacrosse game I have been a part of (and any details):When we won ACCs last year (a 13-8 win over No. 1 Duke)

Best lacrosse game I have ever seen:The Virginia men’s NCAA national championship game when they won in 2006.

Why I play lacrosse….:It is what I am passionate about and I love the sport

A brief summary of my early lacrosse history (introduction to the sport, etc): I was introduced to lacrosse by Ms. Callahan, my elementary school P.E. teacher
