Ayeni Repeats as Discus Champion; Read Wins 5K at ECAC

Virginia’s Yemi Ayeni, the school record holder in the discus, repeated as the IC4A Champion in the discus, throwing a 194′ 2″ at the IC4A Championships held at Princeton. Teammate Katie Read won the women’s 5K title, running a 16:56.27, more than two seconds faster than the second place finisher. Teammate Lauretta Dezubay ran a personal-best 17:15.30 to take sixth, helping the Cavaliers earn 13 points. The Cavalier women sit in second with 19 points, just four points out of Princeton’s meet-leading 23. The men are in fifth with 15 points, two points behind Georgetown and five behind William and Mary. Action in the ECAC and IC4A Championships continue tomorrow (May 12) at Princeton.
