CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia swimming and diving program has announced the addition of seven men who have signed National Letters of Intent to join the program next fall. Tim Hayes (Coopersburg, Pa.), Matt McLean (Sterling, Va.), Scot Robison (Charlotte, N.C.), Taylor Smith (Saratoga, Calif.), John Snawerdt (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.) Ian Vogt (Richmond, Va.), and Zach Zohl (Mohnton, Pa.) will form the first-year class of the 2007-08 Cavalier team.

The class was ranked the No. 5 class in the nation by collegeswimming.com.

“Coming out of the fall, there was a lot of concern that this class didn’t have the same quality as classes in the past,” head coach Mark Bernardino said. “But as their results became evident, people realized that this is an outstanding class. Each member has something special, both athletically and academically to bring to our program. Our hope is this is the type of class that will help take us back to the top of the ACC.”
