CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia swimming and diving program has announced the addition of ten women who have signed National Letters of Intent to join the program next fall. Nancy Baar (Roanoke, Va.), Katya Bachrouche (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Claire Crippen (Conshohocken, Pa.), Hannah Davis (Toano, Va.), Amanda Faulkner (Louisville, Ky.), Ellie Freeman (Englewood, Colo.), Claire Galdun (Knoxville, Tenn.), Kristen Moores (Gaithersburg, Md.), Anne Summer Myers (Richmond, Va.), and Elizabeth Shaw (Richmond, Va.) will form the first-year class of the 2007-08 Cavalier team.

Among the ten swimmers, five have posted Olympic Trial qualifying times. The class also includes arguably the top four high school swimmers from Virginia. Overall, the class was ranked No. 3 nationally by collegeswimming.com.

“I believe that this class is probably the finest and largest class we have had in my 30 years at Virginia,” head coach Mark Bernardino said. “This group is talented, intelligent, and has the ability to improve. They remind me a lot of the class that came here in 1996 that went on to have a top-ten NCAA finish and won two ACC Championships.”
