Erin Batth Named Director of Operations for Women's Basketball

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia has named Erin Batth as the director of operations for women’s basketball, UVa head coach Debbie Ryan announced on Tuesday.
Batth (pronounced BATH) joins the UVa staff after working in basketball operations for the WNBA Sacramento Monarchs and NBA Sacramento Kings.
“I’m excited to be able to work with this coaching staff, especially Debbie Ryan,” Batth said. “I look forward to being a part of this team. It’s a wonderful family atmosphere. UVa is an awesome place, and it’s great to be a part of the ACC again.”
Batth was a four-year letterwinner at center for Clemson. She led the Lady Tigers to the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference championship en route to an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16. Clemson’s representative to the ACC Student-Athlete Academic Board, Batth also served on CU’s Minority Council. As a senior, Batth wrote a column for the school newspaper entitled “Batth Time”.
“We are very happy and pleased to have Erin Batth as our director of basketball operations,” Ryan said. “She was a great player in the ACC, and we feel she will bring a great deal of experience to the job, having worked with the Sacramento Monarchs. Erin will be a great asset to our program.”
A native of Marietta, Ga., Batth earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Clemson in 2001 with a minor in management. She received the ACC Top Six Award for community service in 2001.
Following graduation, Batth was drafted by the WNBA Cleveland Rockers, becoming the first Clemson player to be drafted in the WNBA. A second-team All-ACC honoree, Batth stands sixth on Clemson’s all-time blocks list with 116 blocks in 121 career games, eight in blocks per game (0.96), and No. 22 in career points with 972. In 2000 and 2001, she earned second-team defensive All-America honors as well as ACC All-Defensive Team accolades.
Batth also played professional basketball for two seasons in Greece before returning to the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars in 2004.
Batth joined the collegiate coaching ranks in 2004-05 as an assistant coach at Virginia Commonwealth. She returned to professional basketball in Turkey for the 2005-06 season before joining the teams in Sacramento.
