Charlottesville, Va. – Football players Chris Long and Tom Santi have been selected to the 2007 Preseason All-ACC Football Team as voted on by media attending the annual ACC Football Kickoff at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., earlier this week.
One of the leading players in the nation, Long has been named to several preseason All-American lists. He finished fourth last season in tackling by a defensive lineman in the ACC with an average of 4.8 tackles per game. He led the team with 12 tackles for loss and 21 quarterback pressures and was a second-team All-ACC choice at defensive end.
Santi ranked fourth among ACC tight ends with 29 receptions for 253 yards and one touchdown last season. He has caught 61 passes for 766 yards and three touchdowns in his career to rank eighth in UVa history in receiving by a tight end.
Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan was selected the preseason ACC Player of the Year.
