CHARLOTTESVILLE – A new and improved virginiasports.com web site featuring easy navigation with a clean look and more interactive areas for Virginia fans to enjoy will be launched on Wednesday (Sept. 12) by the UVa athletics department and JumpTV. The site is designed to be a source of Virginia athletics news, information, photos, live audio, video on-demand and e-commerce for all UVa fans.

The streamlined site features more original content on UVa student-athletes as well as photo galleries that capture all of the action from Virginia athletics events. New features being introduced on virginiasports.com include a photo store where fans can purchase images of UVa athletes and an interactive online community section called “Wahoos for Life.” “Wahoos for Life” provides many opportunities for fans, including the ability to create a fun online profile, participate in promotional contests, sign up to receive news and information from the athletics department, and submit images for display on `Hoo Vision.

The site includes an improved presence for the popular VirginiaSportsTV.com and the Cavalier Team Shop. VirginiaSportsTV.com is available free, and on-demand exclusive and all-access video features are also available on the site.

Fans may also sign-up to listen to live audio coverage through V Pass. V Pass will include play-by-play coverage of the Virginia football and men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the Cavalier Call-In programs with head coaches Al Groh and Dave Leitao. Additional sports coverage may be offered in the future.

The new virginiasports.com also features extensive Gameday links to assist fans in obtaining the latest information on UVa home athletics events, the introduction of auctions of unique Virginia merchandise and improved display of headline information with six stories featured on the site’s main page instead of just one.

“We’re excited about the launch of our new and improved site,” said Virginia Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing and Video Services Todd Goodale. “The site is comprehensive with information Virginia fans need to know on athletics events, teams, student-athletes and ticket availability. Video features, photo and merchandise purchase, and interactive areas are available for visitors to the site in a fan-friendly and easy to navigate format.

“We feel Virginia fans will enjoy the new site and visit it often to stay abreast of what’s happening in UVa athletics, purchase tickets, listen to live audio broadcasts, view video features and photo galleries, and visit the Cavalier Team Shop online to purchase Virginia merchandise.”
