CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia women’s tennis head coach Mark Guilbeau has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Claire Bartlett (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) will all join the Cavalier program in the fall of 2008.

“We are extremely fortunate to have these three top US junior players joining our program,” said Guilbeau. “All three have worked very hard to reach the top level of US junior tennis. On top of many tennis accomplishments, each of these young ladies possess the leadership skills, work ethic and a genuine joy and desire for achieving academic and athletic success. They will be great leaders for our program immediately and into the future. We greatly appreciate the support of these three, as well as that of their parents, throughout the recruiting process.”

Bartlett is currently ranked No. 8 in the USTA girls 18s national rankings and is listed as a top 10 recruit by tennisrecruiting.net. She has been ranked in the top ten nationally in both singles and doubles over the past two years. Earlier this fall, she won her first career ITF junior circuit singles title in Atlanta.

Hardenbergh is listed as a five-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net and is currently ranked in the top 50 of the USTA girls 18s national rankings. This summer she had success on the USTA junior circuit, including reaching the round of 32 of the USTA National Championships, which vaulted her into the top 50 of the national rankings.

Fraser has been one of the top junior players in the country during her career, ranking in the top 20 of the USTA girls’ 18s national rankings. She graduated high school in 2007 where she was ranked a top 10 recruit that year by tennisrecruiting.net, but deferred enrollment until fall of 2008. She is currently playing tournaments on the USTA Futures and ITF circuits, reaching quarterfinals of tournaments in the United States and England. This past summer, she teamed with Bartlett to reach the girls 18s doubles final of the International Grass Court Championships.
