WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded play Sunday at the William & Mary Women’s Invitational. The Cavaliers had eight players competing in the event, which was the first of the year for many members of the team.

Junior Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) won three matches to reach the final of Flight D, before falling to Audrey Bordeleau of Arkansas in three sets. Three other Cavaliers, Amanda Rales (Bethesda, Md.), Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas), and Cathy Nimitz (Glen Allen, Va.) also won three of their four singles matches in the tournament.

In doubles, two teams won a pair of matches. The duos of Yahner and Pereira and Lara Alexander (London, England) and Hampton Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) each recorded two victories.

Virginia will return to action this weekend as it hosts the UVa Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center. The field consists of Virginia, South Carolina, Marshall, William & Mary, VCU, Old Dominion, and UNC-Greensboro. Play begins at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
