CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded play Sunday as the inaugural UVa Women’s Fall Invitational wrapped up at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers posted three singles wins and two doubles wins on the final day of play.

In singles, Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) downed Arielle VonStrolley of UNC-Greensboro 6-4, 6-3. Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) topped Jana Kibicikova of Old Dominion 6-4, 7-6, while Lara Alexander (London, England) won her match over Erica Zabkar of UNC-Greensboro, 3-1 ret.

The team of Lara Alexander and Jennifer Stevens had a win in Flight B doubles, while the duo of Amanda Rales and Hampton Williams won in Flight C.

“Thank you to all of the teams that participated,” said Virginia head coach Mark Guilbeau. “There was a lot of great tennis played this weekend. Also, an especially a big thank you to our fans for coming out and to our parents and alumni for providing such great lunches from the grill all weekend. It was a fantastic environment and all of the support is really appreciated.”

In the top three singles flights, the top players were recognized. Kellie Schmitt of Marshall, Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary, and Gira Schofield of South Carolina all tied for top spot in Flight A, with the final order of Schmitt, Zoricic and Schofield determined on head-to-head results. Laura Burns of VCU took the top spot in Flight B, while William & Mary’s Klaudyna Kasztelaniec won Flight C. In doubles, the William & Mary duo of Zoricic and Ragini Acharya took top honors by winning Flight A.
