Women's Tennis Hosts Season-Opening Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia women’s tennis team will open the spring portion of its schedule this weekend when its hosts the third annual UVa Team Invitational at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The tournament will run Friday-Sunday and will consist of LSU, Purdue, Wake Forest and the host Cavaliers.

All four teams open the year ranked in the top 50 of the ITA rankings. Wake Forest is No. 21, LSU is No. 33, Virginia is No. 39, and Purdue is No. 49.

On each day of the tournament, teams will play against a different opponent. On Friday, the Cavaliers will play LSU, while Wake Forest plays Purdue. On Saturday, Virginia plays Purdue and Wake Forest plays LSU. On Sunday, the Cavaliers play Wake Forest and LSU plays Purdue.

Action will begin on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. Sunday’s play will begin at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
