The Virginia men’s lacrosse team is entering its second week of practice in preparation for the 2008 season.

After going up against only themselves, the team gets its first chance to go up against outside competition and see some new faces in a scrimmage Saturday afternoon against Navy.

The two teams scrimmaged in the fall in Virginia Beach and have frequently tangled during the preseason.

“Scrimmaging an outstanding Navy team on Saturday will be a stern early test for our young men,” said UVa head coach Dom Starsia. “The Midshipmen return a veteran team and benefit from having scrimmaged UMBC this past weekend. We are excited to compete and look forward to seeing some different personnel combinations in action. It may only’ be a scrimmage but these two teams always produce some exciting lacrosse!”

The scrimmage begins at at 1 p.m. and will be played at the UHall Turf Field.

Tickets for the scrimmage can be purchased at the gate. They are $4 for adults and $2 for youth (18 & under), seniors (60 & over), and faculty/staff members w/ID.

Season tickets for men’s and women’s lacrosse remain available, as well as the all-lacrosse season pass, which offers admission to all 13 home games at Klockner Stadium. Season tickets offer a savings of up to 50 percent off single-game ticket prices, and allow ticket holders to avoid game day lines at the ticket window. Fans may purchase season tickets by logging on to virginiasports.com or by calling the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 542-8821.
