Charlottesville, VA Virginia senior defensive end Chris Long has added to the list of postseason awards and recognitions he has received in recent weeks. Long, who is profiled in this week’s edition of Sports Illustrated (click here to read the story), was named to the All-American Football Foundation’s 2007 All-America team. The organization is the only All-America team that picks its squad after the bowl games and Senior Bowl has been played.

Long was also one of 11 seniors to receive the Foundation’s Colonel Earl (Red) Blaik Scholarship award that includes a grant to Virginia to be awarded to deserving students.

Wednesday night Long received the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Memorial Trophy at the 63rd Norfolk Sports Club Jamboree. The Award is presented to the best college athlete in the country who hails from a Virginia high school.

The previous week the Portsmouth Sports Club honored Long as its College Male athlete of the year at its Sports Clubs Jamboree.

Long and other seniors from Virginia’s 2007 football team will perform for scouts from the National Football League March 18 at Virginia. The Cavaliers open spring football practice March 21 with the annual Spring Football Festival scheduled for April 12 at Scott Stadium with activities slated to begin at noon.
