CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia left-handed pitcher Pat McAnaney (Sr., Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named the Co-ACC Pitcher of the Week following his complete-game victory Saturday over Duke. He shares the honor with Florida State’s Matt Fairel.
McAnaney fired his first career complete game in UVa’s 10-1 win over Duke Saturday. He allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out eight. After allowing an unearned run in the second inning, he retired 14-consecutive batters and 19 of the next 20.
It marks the first career pitcher of the week honor for McAnaney and the second for a Virginia hurler this year. Andrew Carraway earned the distinction Feb. 25.
The Cavaliers (14-4) kick off a 12-game homestand at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Stony Brook.
