CHARLOTTESVILLEThe Virginia athletics department’s contract with Nike USA, Inc., has been extended through June of 2016. The contract calls for the Virginia athletics department to receive $11.8 million in product and compensation from Nike during the next eight years beginning July 1 of this year. “We are very pleased to extend our agreement with Nike,” said Virginia Executive Associate Director of Athletics Jon Oliver. “The terms of the agreement will help us with our goal of supporting the operational needs of each sport program. The original agreement between the Virginia athletics department and Nike began in the summer of 2001 and had previously been amended to run through June of 2009.

“Nike is very excited to continue its association with the University of Virginia and pleased to provide the school with our innovative performance products,” said Kit Morris, Nike’s Director of College Sports Marketing. “We value this relationship and are honored to partner with such a quality institution.
