GREENSBORO, N.C. Ben Rubeor and Maryland’s Jeff Reynolds share the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week accolade for their play in leading their teams to victory last week.
Rubeor scored a game-high three goals in the Cavaliers’ 13-12 overtime victory over reigning national champion Johns Hopkins Saturday before a Klckner Stadium lacrosse record crowd of 7,579.
The senior from Towson, Md., notched his first goal early in the contest to give his team a 1-0 lead. Following some back-and-forth scoring, he got his second goal midway through the second period to put his team ahead, 5-3. After the teams continued to trade goals the rest of the way, Rubeor’s third and final goal of the day came with 57 seconds left and sent the game into overtime. Rubeor also helped his team’s effort by scooping four ground balls, second most on the team.
Reynolds scored three goals to lead Maryland to a 13-8 win over Maryland on Saturday.
Virginia and Maryland clash this Saturday in College Park at noon. The game will be the first regular season game televised on ESPN2.
