MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Lynx announced Sunday the signing of former Virginia guard Sharne Zoll. A four-year starter for the Cavaliers, Zoll wrapped up her illustrious career by becoming the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-time assists leader (785 career assists) and leading the 2007-08 squad to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Zoll broke the 16-year-old record held by former Virginia great Dawn Staley (729 career assists).

A 5-foot-7 guard, Zoll was one of the most decorated guards in Cavalier history. In addition to owning the career assists record, the Marlboro, N.J., native ranks in the all-time top 10 in career steals (234; No. 5) and was a three-time all-ACC selection. She closed her senior season with averages of 8.5 points and 6.4 assists per game. For her four-year career, Zoll averaged 8.9 points and 5.9 assists in 132 games.

Zoll was drafted in the third round of the 2008 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. After being waived by the Sparks, she was signed by the Lynx on Sunday.

Minnesota won its season-opener Sunday night over Detroit, 84-70, and is back in action on Tuesday, May 27 at Houston.
