CHARLOTTESVILLE Three members of the Virginia men’s tennis team earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) and Dominic Inglot (London, England) were named ITA Singles All-Americans, while Devvarman and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) were named ITA Doubles All-Americans.
Devvarman, who repeated as NCAA Singles Champion in 2008, earned his third All-American honor in singles and second in doubles. His five career All-American honors are the most in school history, surpassing Brian Vahaly’s four (three singles, one doubles). He ended the season with a 44-1 singles record and was ranked No. 1 nationally every week of the season.
Inglot was honored for the first time, becoming the eighth different Cavalier to become an All-American. He became an All-American by being seeded for the NCAA Singles Championship.
With Devvarman and Inglot’s honors, this season becomes the first in which the Cavaliers had multiple singles All-Americans.
Huey earned doubles honors for the second time in his career, as he and Devvarman became the first two-time doubles All-Americans in school history. The duo won the ITA All-America and ITA National Indoor Championships in the fall and were ranked No. 1 nationally for most of the year.
