CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Members of the Virginia swimming team will head to Charlotte, N.C. this week to compete in the Charlotte Ultraswim Grand Prix, the final meet before the United States Olympic Trials. Trials are set for June 29-July 6 in Omaha, Neb.

“The Charlotte Ultraswim is a major USA Swimming meet every summer, but this year it is especially important, being the last event before Trials,” Virginia head coach Mark Bernardino said. “Our swimmers will have opportunities to make initial and additional Olympic Trial cuts.”

Virginia, the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference champion on both the men’s and women’s side, has 24 athletes who have already punched their ticket to Omaha.

The Charlotte Ultraswim begins Thursday, June 5, with distance events beginning at 4 p.m. ET. For competition Friday through Sunday, prelim sessions begin at 9 a.m. ET and finals start at 6 p.m. ET. All-session passes are available for $30. Tickets for prelims are $5, and finals tickets are also $5.
