CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team placed four seniors including first-team All-American Claire Bordley (Vienna, Va.) and second-team All-American Kendall McBrearty (Alexandria, Va.) – on the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women’s Lacrosse team, as announced on Thursday by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Classmates Megan O’Malley (Moorestown, N.J.) and Kaitlin Swagart (Washington, D.C.) also received all-conference academic recognition.
Twelve players who earned All-Conference honors this past season secured spots on the 2008 All-ACC Academic Women’s Lacrosse Team. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
All six league schools competing in women’s lacrosse are represented on the 2007 academic squad, including 13 student-athletes who are repeat honorees from the 2007 All-ACC Academic team. Duke placed nine student-athletes on the academic squad for the third consecutive year. Maryland and North Carolina followed with six, while Virginia and Virginia Tech each had four. Rounding out the 32-member team with three selections was Boston College.
