BEIJING, China — Former Cavalier women’s soccer player Angela Hucles won her second career Olympic gold medal Thursday as the United States defeated Brazil 1-0 in overtime in the Olympic Women’s Soccer Tournament final. Hucles was also a member of the gold medal winning American team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Hucles started all six games of the tournament for the United States and led the team in scoring with four goals at the Olympics. She was the second leading scorer in the tournament behind Brazil’s Cristiane, who had five.

Hucles had one goal in group play as she scored in the Americans’ 4-0 win over New Zealand. In the quarterfinals, she scored the opening goal in the United States’ 2-1 overtime win over Canada. She scored twice in the 4-2 win over Japan in the semifinals, her second career multi-goal game for the US Women’s National Team.
