CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 11 Virginia women’s soccer returns home to Klckner Stadium for the first time in nearly three weeks when it hosts NC State Thursday night in its ACC home opener. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.

The first 500 fans at the game will receive a free Virginia Soccer scarf. Thursday’s game is also Dollar Concession Night, with hot dogs and 12 ounce Pepsi products on sale for $1 each.

The Cavaliers (8-1-1, 2-0-0 ACC) are coming off a pair of road wins last week to open conference play, topping Florida State 1-0 and Miami 2-0. Meghan Lenczyk (McLean, Va.) scored the game-winning goal in both games and was honored as the ACC Co-Player of the Week and the Soccer America National Player of the Week. Lenczyk is tied for the conference lead with eight goals on the season, while first-year Lauren Alwine (Elizabethtown, Pa.), who assisted on both of Lenczyk’s game-winners last week, is tied for the ACC lead with seven assists.

The Wolfpack (8-3-0, 0-1-0 ACC) dropped their ACC opener Sunday at Duke 3-0. NC State is led in scoring by Lindsay Vera, who has eight goals and five assists this season.

Thursday’s game is the 31st all-time meeting between the schools with the Cavaliers having an 18-11-1 edge in the series. Virginia has won the last 13 meetings, dating back to the 1995 season. The Cavaliers won last year’s meeting 3-0 in Raleigh.
