CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Virginia baseball team will begin its annual Orange and Blue World Series at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Davenport Field. The seven-game series is the culmination of fall practice and runs through Oct. 21. Admission to all seven games is free and all games are open to the public.
Parking will be available in the University Hall lots for all but one of the games. For the Friday, Oct. 17 contest, baseball parking only will be available in the Emmet-Ivy Garage because of the Elton John concert at John Paul Jones Arena that evening.
The first three games will count as one series, while games 4-6 will be another series. Game 7 will be the deciding game if the teams split the first two series. Each series will be best-of-three. However, if one team loses the first two games, it still can win the championship by winning the final game by the run differential of the first two contests (e.g., If run differential combined is four runs for games one and two, then five runs wins the series).
Team rosters were selected Wednesday and are attached in PDF format. The Blue Team will be led by assistant coach Eddie Smith, while the Orange Team will be guided by former Cavalier Jeremy Farrell.
