On being optimistic:
“They played very well. It was a very good game. You have to be optimistic about it. We’re 1-1 in the ACC, six games left, we have to keep pushing it. We have to keep working a lot harder this off week to get ready for Wake Forest. We have to focus.”
On Coach Ralph Friedgen:
“I definitely think that [Coach ] is reaching us. Some of the responsibility falls on the team. Offensively, that is one thing that I cannot control. We have to do a lot of things better if we expect to win an ACC championship or anything. Again, [Virginia] played a very good game, and we didn’t match them.”
On preparation:
“It wasn’t anything that [Virginia] was doing, it was us. There were a lot of things that we shouldn’t have been doing, a lot things that we were doing to beat ourselves. We didn’t push hard enough, make enough plays, and I definitely take full responsibility because I didn’t play anywhere near where I’m supposed to play.”
On underestimating Virginia:
“It’s very tough to underestimate a team like [Virginia]. It turned out to be a big game for us. We thought that since their record wasn’t very good that they weren’t going to play like they did a couple of years ago. UVa put forth their best effort, and we didn’t. We didn’t play college football.”

“We tried to stay positive, and that’s all that you can really do. We tried to move the ball. As far as points, that’s all that really matters at the end of the day, and we didn’t score any. The results aren’t about your mental strategy or trying. We have to work on that on our off week. The hard part about it is that we worked the hardest these last six weeks.
