Chapel Hill, NC The eighth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team enters the final round of the Tar Heel Invitational tied with host North Carolina for second place at 596. The Cavaliers shot 14-over 302 during Saturday’s second round at the Finley Golf Course to drop out of a first-place tie with Wake Forest. The Deacons lead the field by 11 shots at 585 after shooting 291. Louisville is in fourth place at 601.
Whitney Neuhauser shot 1-over 73 for the second straight day to top the UVa contingent. She is in sixth place at 2-over 146. Jennie Arseneault shot 76 and dropped back to 11th at 147. Lene Krog, who like Arseneault was tied for first place after the opening round, shot 78 and fell back to 16th at 149. Calle Nielson had the team’s second best score, posting a 3-over 75, to move up to 37th at 154. Joy Kim is in 65th place after shooting 78 to enter Sunday’s final round at 158.
Wake Forest’s Natalie Sheary leads the field at 3-under 141. Louisville’s Cindy LaCrosse is one shot back at 142.
The final round of the 54-hole tournament takes place Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m.
