GREENSBORO, N.C. Third-year Lauren Dickson, an outside hitter from Austin, Texas was chosen today as the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after a pair of double-double performances over the weekend. This marks the first-ever weekly honor for Dickson.
On Friday, Dickson registered 10 kills and 12 digs in the Cavaliers’ 3-0 sweep over Boston College for their first conference win of the season. She improved on those numbers a day later in the 3-1 win over Maryland. Dickson had 15 kills and 21 digs to extend her streak of consecutive double-doubles to four straight. She also posted a career-high five blocks and recorded a service ace in the win.
Dickson leads the team with 203 kills this season and is second on the squad in digs, with 192. She has accumulated 27 blocks, including a team-best seven solo blocks. Dickson now ranks sixth in the league this season with 3.33 kills per set.
Virginia wraps up its four-match road swing with contests at North Carolina and NC State this weekend. The Cavaliers visit the Tar Heels on Friday night at 7 p.m., before facing the Wolfpack on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Friday’s tilt between Virginia and North Carolina will be available on ACC Select.
