CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 7 Virginia women’s soccer continues its three-game road trip Thursday as it visits intrastate rival Virginia Tech. Game time in Blacksburg is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.
The Cavaliers (10-1-1) have tied their best ACC start in history with a 4-0-0 record. In the last two games, Virginia has exploded for 13 goals, topping NC State 6-0 and Clemson 7-1. Meghan Lenczyk (McLean, Va.) leads the team with 10 goals while Lauren Alwine (Elizabethtown, Pa.) leads the conference and ranked fifth nationally with 10 assists.
The Hokies (6-4-2, 1-1-2 ACC) are coming off a 2-2 tie at Clemson and a 3-0 victory over NC State last week.
Thursday’s game is the 13th all-time meeting between the schools with the Cavaliers having won each of the 12 previous meetings in the series. Virginia has won all five meetings since the Hokies joined the ACC in 2004, outscoring them 19-1 in those games. The Cavaliers will be making their first trip to Blacksburg since 2005, when they scored a 4-0 victory at Thompson Field.
