CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Steven Proscia (Fr., Suffern, N.Y.) tripled to score two runs in the sixth inning to lead his Orange team to a 3-2 win Sunday in Game 2 of the Orange and Blue World Series at Davenport Field. The series is now tied at a game apiece. Game 3 will be held at 6 p.m. Monday.
Both starting pitchers threw extremely well. Orange starter Tyler Wilson (So., Midlothian, Va.) pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs and five hits while striking out six. Robert Morey (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) nabbed the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief and Kevin Arico (So., Flemington, N.J.) tossed a perfect ninth to notch the save.
Blue starter Will Roberts (Fr., Richmond, Va.) was equally impressive, tossing five innings and allowing just an unearned run and two hits while fanning three. He did not walk a batter. Sean Lucas (Fishkill, N.Y.) allowed Proscia’s go-ahead triple and took the loss.
The teams combined for just eight hits, with the Blue earning five of them — all in the first five innings.
