CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 9 Virginia women’s soccer team closes out the road portion of its 2008 schedule Thursday as it visits Maryland. Game time at Ludwig Field in College Park is slated for 7 p.m.
The Cavaliers are coming off a 1-0 loss at Virginia Tech last week. The loss snapped a four-game win streak and dropped Virginia to 10-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in the ACC. With a win on Thursday, the Cavaliers would set a new school record with four ACC road wins in a season.
The Terrapins (5-7-2, 1-4-0 ACC) are coming off a 1-0 loss to Duke at home on Sunday. Maryland has scored only one goal in ACC play this season, which came in its 1-0 victory over Miami.
The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 23-3-3, including a 7-3-2 mark at Maryland. However, College Park has not been kind to the Cavaliers recently, as they are 0-2-1 in their last three trips to Ludwig Field, having been shutout in all three games.
Virginia returns home on Sunday to begin a four-game homestand to close out the regular season. The Cavaliers will host No. 14 Boston College Sunday at 1 p.m. at Klckner Stadium.
