ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Cavalier first-year Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) continued strong play at the Dwight Davis/Merrill Lynch Championships on the USTA Pro Circuit Friday with a 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinal victory over Petra Padalikova of the Czech Republic. Padalikova, the tournament’s No. 8 seed, is ranked No. 996 in the world.
“Lindsey really played a complete match today,” said Cavalier assistant coach Troy Porco. “She did a good job of mixing up her serve and was strong with her groundstrokes. She did a good job making the points long and then winning those long points.”
Hardenbergh, who is playing her first ever USTA Pro Circuit event, has advanced to the semifinals of the main draw after advancing from qualifying.
The tournament runs through Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis’ Forest Park.
