CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia sophomore goalkeeper Chantel Jones (Midlothian, Va.) was one of 20 players named to the United States roster for next month’s FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup. U.S. U-20 head coach Tony DiCicco named his final roster on Monday for the tournament, which will take place in Chile from Nov. 19 to Dec. 7.

Due to commitments to the U-20 team for training camps, friendlies and next month’s tournament, Jones opted to sit out this season for the Cavaliers. She will return to the squad next season with three years of eligibility remaining.

Last season, Jones was one of the top goalkeepers in the nation. She was named a first-team Freshman All-American by Soccer America and Soccer Buzz magazines and was a second-team All-ACC honoree. She set a school record with a 0.41 goals against average, which ranked third nationally. She tied the school record with 13 shutouts and, in September, had a school record 748-minute shutout streak.

The Americans open play at the tournament on Nov. 19 against France at the Estadio Nelson Oyarzun in Chillan. Every game of the tournament will be broadcast online at ESPN360.com.
