CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 11 Virginia women’s soccer team continues its four-game homestand Thursday when it hosts No. 13 Duke at Klckner Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast online by ACC Select.
Thursday’s game will feature a Halloween celebration. The first 200 kids in attendance will receive a Halloween goody-bag and kids are also invited to take part in a costume contest.
Due to the concert Thursday night at John Paul Jones Arena, soccer parking will be available at both the Cage Lot and the Emmet/Ivy Garage.
The Cavaliers (12-3-1, 6-2-0 ACC) are looking to rebound from a 5-1 loss to No. 5 North Carolina on Oct. 24. The loss snapped Virginia’s 20-game unbeaten streak at Klckner Stadium. Meghan Lenczyk (McLean, Va.) scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers, for her team-leading 11th goal of the season, on Lauren Alwine’s (Elizabethtown, Pa.) ACC-leading 13th assist of the season.
The Blue Devils (12-3-2, 4-2-2 ACC) is coming off a 6-0 win over Clemson in their home finale on Sunday. Duke is led in scoring by KayAnne Gummersall, who has 11 goals this season.
Virginia leads the all-time series between the schools 15-10-5. The Cavaliers have won the last three meetings between the teams, including a 2-0 win in Durham last season.
