CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia junior guard Paulisha Kellum (Upper Marlboro, Md.) will miss the 2008-09 season, head coach Debbie Ryan announced Thursday. She suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during a closed practice scrimmage at George Washington on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kellum had an MRI performed on Tuesday that revealed the extent of the injury.
Kellum started 31 out of 33 games last season and averaged 9.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
“This is a tremendous loss for our program,” Ryan said. “I know Paulisha will come back as strong as ever and of course we will see her through every step of the way.”
