CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Sixth-year Ryan Foster has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Performer of the Week honors for his performance at the ACC Championships this past weekend. Completing the 8K Ranson-Hamrick Course at the University of North Carolina in 24:27.7, Foster brought the Cavaliers their first-ever ACC individual champion on the men’s side, while also leading Virginia to the team title for the second-consecutive year.
Foster, a senior captain from Stephens City, Va., who placed third in last year’s event, delivered a strong kick at the finish to place ahead of Boston College’s Tim Ritchie (24:30) and Virginia Tech’s Devin Cornwall (24:30.8) to earn top honors. Three other Cavaliers posted top-10 finishes as Virginia claimed its third ACC men’s title in four years and its fourth overall.
The ACC Performer of the Week honor is the first of Foster’s career and is the third for a Cavalier this season. Third-year Trey Miller (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and fourth-year Lauretta Dezubay (Bethlehem, Pa.) swept the weekly honors earlier this season after claiming the individual titles at the Lou Onesty Invitational.
The Cavaliers head to Panorama Farms this Friday, Nov. 7, hosting the Cavalier Open. The men’s race is set to begin at 4 p.m., with the women following at 4:45 p.m.
