CHARLOTTESVILLE — The 2008 ITA National Indoor Championships begins Thursday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Play begins at 10 a.m. and admission is free.
Thursday’s action will consist of first round play for both men and women in the 32-player singles draws and the 16-team doubles draws. Three Cavalier men are in the singles draw. Dominic Inglot (London, England) will play Bruno Rosa of Rice, Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) will play Fabio Silva of Fresno Pacific, and Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) will play No. 6 seed Arnau Brugues of Tulsa. In the women’s singles draw, Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) plays Taylor Ormond of Baylor. In doubles, the Cavalier team of Inglot and Shabaz plays Geoff Chizever and Pedro Zerbini of Cal while Singh and Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) play No. 2 seed Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollock of Texas A&M. The Cavalier women’s doubles team of Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Amanda Rales (Bethesda, Md.) open play against Megan Falcon and Mykala Hedberg of LSU.
