CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball player Lauren Dickson was named to the 2008 CoSIDA Academic All-District III University Division Women’s Volleyball Team, announced today. Dickson was recognized as one of six players named to the first team.
An outside hitter from Austin, Tex., Dickson leads the Cavaliers with 259 kills and 30 service aces this season. She has tallied 12 double-doubles and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on Oct. 6 and the MVP of the JMU Days Inn Invitational on Aug. 30.
A 2008 preseason All-ACC Team selection, Dickson is currently ranked 10th in the league for kills per game (2.98) and fifth in service aces (0.34). She also earned 2006 All-ACC Freshman Team honors.
A 2006 All-ACC Academic Team selection and two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, Dickson is majoring in commerce.
Virginia (13-12, 5-8 ACC) begins a four-match homestand this weekend, hosting North Carolina Friday and NC State Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., in Memorial Gymnasium.
