“Both Florida State and Penn State are good programs with good, solid athletes,” Virginia head coach Mark Bernardino said. “We are going to have to really be sharp to be competitive, but it should be a lot of fun. We are going to cover 19 events in this format and we look forward to swimming some of our best times of the semester.”

The Virginia men’s and women’s teams are each coming off wins at Kentucky last weekend. The 15th-ranked Cavalier men finished 1-2-3 in the 1000 and 500 freestyle events. Third-year Darren Ankosko won both races to lead the men. Earlier in the week, the men suffered their first dual meet loss of the season on the road against seventh-ranked Tennessee.

Highlighting the 10th-ranked Cavalier women’s win over Kentucky was the 200 free and the 1000 free, where Virginia went 1-2-3. Megan Evo, a fourth-year co-captain, was also a double event winner in the 200 IM and 100 free.
