UVa Wins Three Races At Rivanna Romp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Three victories by host Virginia highlighted the Rivanna Romp, held Sunday in Charlottesville, Va., on the Rivanna Reservoir. UVa’s eight, four and two boats were victorious as the Cavaliers competed against crews from Duke, Iowa, Miami, Ohio State, Old Dominion, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
“I was pleased with our results today, especially winning the varsity eight, four and double,” head coach Kevin Sauer said. “I was also impressed wth the Varsity ‘B’ eight that was third, the ‘E’ four that was fourth and the ‘B’ double just behind the ‘A’ boat and both ahead of a very good Ohio State double. It was great way to end our fall racing season and we appreciate Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami, Iowa, Penn, Duke and Old Dominion coming to the Romp.”
Virginia “A” won the varsity eight with a time of 13:06.55, while Virginia “B” had a third-place finish in that race with a time of 13:30.07.
Virginia also had a victory in the varsity four, where its “A” crew had a time of 14:48.46. Virginia “E” had a fourth-place finish with a time of 15:20.75.
In the novice eight, Virginia “A” finished second (14:42.19), UVa “B” finished fourth (15:29.84) and UVa “C” finished sixth (16:10.85).
Virginia won the 2x race with a time of 15:02.75.
